RUSTLING LEAVES (BookSurge, 2008)

Now available at Amazon.com HERE
Rustling Leaves is the second collection of my shorter writings. The meat of the book is a selection of ten of 2008’s best-received essays from my blog, refined and polished for publication. In addition to these, I have appended two previously-unpublished essays: the title essay, “Rustling Leaves”, and the final essay, “The Empty Bench.”
The central theme of this collection is hope. What is the Christian hope? What makes it different from every other sort of hope out there? What does it mean to experience this hope - how should it affect our lives? These are the sort of questions which I ponder in the pages of Rustling Leaves. For those who are curious as to why I chose to occupy my musings with this theme, you can read the explanation in the book’s preface.
Whether you are a regular reader of my blog or a first-time visitor to this site, I’d really be jazzed if you’d consider my book. Its format makes it ideal for those who, by either preference or necessity, take their reading in biscuit-sized portions. In the time it takes to enjoy a cup of tea or a mug of coffee, you can experience a bit of Rustling Leaves. Evangelistic in flavour, yet warmly Reformed in its tone, this book is the perfect gift for those - either within or without the Christian faith - who are seeking to find - or learn more about - hope.
MAKING TEA (BookSurge, 2007)

Now available at Amazon.com HERE
Making Tea is a collection of some of my shorter writings. The meat of the book is a selection of fifteen of 2007’s best-received essays from my blog, refined and polished for publication. In addition to these, I have appended my longer essay on Christian community entitled “The Bloody Chair”. Lastly, this volume includes my prize-winning short story “The Fall”, which launched my writing career.
“The Fall” was selected as one of ten finalists from over one thousand entries entered in the WORLDview Fiction Contest, a 2005 contest cosponsored by WORLD magazine and Westbow Press. My pastor encouraged me to enter the contest - but at the time, I had not written anything that would suffice. However, I had held for quite some time in my head a picture of an autumn wood with a slightly haunted feel. From this picture was born the tale of a man who takes a “spirited” walk through the woods on a moonlit September night…

Evangelistic in flavour, yet warmly Reformed in its tone, this book is the perfect gift for those - either within or without the Christian faith - who are willing to give matters of faith & life a thoughtful hearing.
SOULMANCER (BookSurge, 2007)

Now available at Amazon.com HERE
I wrote Soulmancer back in 2005, after a good finish in a short story contest landed me an opportunity to put a full-length novel in front of a commercial publisher. The result was eleven months of very late nights, very full pipes, and very bleary-eyed next days at work. When I finally got the book sent - the lady at the publisher’s with whom I had worked had left the company. They still “looked” at my book… just long enough to circular file it.
After another attempt with a commercial publisher failed, I decided this year to publish on my own. I bought ISBN numbers, registered myself as a publisher, and off I went. The first edition was printed through CafePress. The current edition has a cover designed by my buddy Rick over at Elemental Design, and is being printed by BookSurge. The book has done pretty well, both in reader feedback and in sales - especially considering that I have a $0 promotional budget.
If you’re a fan of epic fantasy, I’d really be jazzed if you’d consider my book. Although certainly no equal to the likes of Lewis or Tolkien, I do place it in that tradition. It is not allegory, but it does contain Christian thematic elements from a distinctly Reformed worldview.
